Even though I love meal planning and cooking (and it’s literally part of my job to help other people do the same), I do struggle with it myself sometimes.
Yesterday, I was sitting on the couch for over an hour trying to come up with meals for the week, and it was like pulling teeth. And then I realized:
“This will be so much easier if I just go to the kitchen.”
…And it was!
Even moving just a few feet to the kitchen completely shifted my *mental* space, and put me in the right *physical* space to do the task I needed to do more easily.

I’ve been finding it hard to motivate myself to post recipes lately, and I think that’s because on some level, a lot of what I make is actually “a little of this and a little of that.” So, come improvise lunch with me! I had a plan in my head going into making this and it turned out SO delicious. But the decision to add pickle juice at the end was THE game changer 😉
✨🥒 Dill Pickle Chickpea Salad 🥒✨
RECIPE:
🔸2 cans chickpeas, rinsed and drained
🔸5 oz. plain Greek yogurt
🔸2 Tbs. mayo
🔸1 heaping tsp. Dijon mustard
🔸2 small or 1 medium dill pickle, chopped
🔸1 handful fresh dill, chopped
🔸2 tsp. pickle juice
🔸1 squeeze lemon
🔸Salt & pepper to taste
Mash all ingredients in a bowl and enjoy! I suspect this will be even better after chillin’ in the fridge overnight 🤤

Musicians: you don’t have to cook all your meals from start to finish at the end of the day when you’re tired! Try breaking recipes or tasks up into smaller, more manageable steps and do a little bit whenever you can.
Whether that’s chopping veggies before you leave for rehearsal, making a sandwich for tomorrows lunch between students, cooking a pot of rice while you practice, or anything else that will set you up for success - it’s the little things that often count the most.
